Literacy the Old Fashioned Way

Traditionally, learning to read, write, and use computational mathematics has been the foundation of teaching literacy.

Literacy in the 21st Century
Some educators believe that literacy skills should include not only reading, but understanding how to find and use information. Information literacy would include not only the traditional types of literacy like reading comprehension and use of mathematics for measurements, but also the ability to use search engines to find and use information, and learn how to communicate that information.

Other Types of Literacy
Non verbal literacy is a very important type of literacy, and one that is used by deaf people to communicate.
